Apr 5 Remy's 3rd Birthday: Farm Party!

Remy is turning THREE this month. I can’t really believe it. Since he’s basically a covid baby, he’s never had a real birthday party so we decided to throw him one this year! I went with a Farm theme since we had it in a barn. It was so fun to plan and we invited all of his classmates from daycare plus a few of our friends from the city. We had a great time! Let me tell you, I was so exhausted afterwards from running after the toddlers all afternoon. Party planning was the easy part :)

Here’s what we did:

Snacks & Drinks

For a toddler party I decided that 1:00-3:00pm was a good timeframe. It seems to be that sweet spot right before afternoon nap. Bonus: I didn’t have to serve lunch - just snacks!

I used the farm theme and put together baskets of different snacks. A basket of apples and applesauce pouches with a “U-Pick Apples” sign. A basket of cheddar bunnies, bunny grahams, and bunny fruit snacks with a sign that said “Bunny Feed”. I also found some cute orange pretzel rods for the “Carrot Patch”. Mini water bottles & juice boxes at the “Watering Hole”. Last minute I decided to have some coffee available for the adults - it was a cold & rainy day so this worked out nicely!

Activities

The barn we had Remy’s party at is catered to toddlers. It has a chicken coop the kids can play in, a hatching window to watch baby chicks, and a huge tractor they can climb on. There are also rabbits, goats, cows, pigs, and other farm animals nearby the barn. Weather dependent, folks can walk around and see the animals before or after the party.

Coloring Pages

I ordered custom coloring pages through Etsy. I found these pages that were farm themed and had them add Remy’s name. They turned out so cute! I printed out a bunch of the different pages and set them out with crayons. I figured kids who didn’t want to run around could sit and color. And any leftover pages could be taken home with the party favors!

Decor

Since the venue was a barn I didn’t need to go crazy with decor. I ordered some gingham black and white table cloths and bandanas on Amazon. At Target (mostly the dollar spot) I found wooden caddies, tin buckets, and baskets (actually in the Easter section). I used those for the snacks and treats. Then I printed signage at home to label the food. It was really easy!

Party Favors

We kept the favors simple. I found some play dough and bubbles that were “berry patch” theme and I put them in a basket for kids to take home. Bubbles would have also been ok to open during the party if it were a bit warmer outside.
